What clear braces in Birmingham can do for you
As we get older our teeth naturally start to move around as we exert all sorts of force on them through either our diet, clenching when we’re stressed, impacts during sports or other sources. Over time this means we start to see things like crooked or crowded looking teeth appearing and whilst this can ruin an otherwise lovely smile, an uneven bite brought out by these misaligned teeth can also cause all sorts of problems.
That’s why we would recommend you try out our treatment of clear braces in Birmingham. Here’s a little background information on this procedure to better explain it.
What are clear braces?
These are basically invisible braces that you wear over the crooked numbers of your teeth to straighten them. This is managed by the brace applying a direct, but gentle amount of force onto those teeth that need straightening and over time they should naturally start to realign to a straightened position.
How are they fitted?
The fitting process of clear braces in Birmingham is actually where things start to get pretty interesting. Using a high-tech scanning device that scans your teeth with lasers and LEDs we’re able to map out the topography of your mouth. This information is then used to produce a 3D image of your teeth and we can then manipulate this to show you how we will straighten out any of the crooked ones.
Not only do you get to see how the finished product will look, but this data will be used to create a custom fitting mouthguard just for you. Over the course of your treatment you may need to wear several sets of braces, changing every couple of weeks, but this is because your teeth will start to shift and the new brace will be able to continue applying the correct amount of pressure where it’s needed.
At St Pauls Square Dental Care our team will take you through the fitting process in a quick and professional manner, that will provide you with a brace to have your smile looking great at the end of your treatment.
How to keep your brace clean
After you leave the practice your role going forward will be to keep your brace nice and shiny.
Keeping the brace clean is not only vitally important, but also incredibly easy. To properly maintain the brace we advise that you wash it with a recommended cleaning solution, use this to lightly scrub all over the appliance with a toothbrush. Then rinse this off and leave it to dry in a hard-bodied container to keep it sterile and safe from any accidental damage.
You should be cleaning the brace at least once every other day to remove any bacteria and help reduce staining. Once it’s clean you should put it back in immediately as you need to wear it for a minimum of 22 hours a day.
Hopefully this has cleared up a few things about our see-through brace treatment. If you’re still curious about what this procedure can do or how it can benefit you, then ask your dentist on your next visit to the practice.
