A bite splint is used in the treatment of tempromandibular joint and occlusal (bite) problems. They aim to give you an “ideal bite” (occlusion) which in turn will reduce stress and strain on your jaw joint and and the muscles associated with the jaw, head and neck. A splint is initially worn as often as possible (ideally 24/7 for the first week) and requires periodic adjustment as the jaw joint and its associated muscles relax and the bite changes. Many patients report great improvements in clicks of the jaw, muscle pain, headaches, neck and shoulder problems.
St Pauls Square Dental Practice has been nominated under the “Best Website” category at the Dentistry awards. We are very proud of this nominatiion and would like to thanks Krishan and his team for all their hard work. We’re continuing to improve the web site and should soon have new sections on the Inman Aligner and Social 6 Orthodontic systems.
Our staff members left Birmingham for night last week to attend an opening evening at our sister practice in Harley Street London. Presentations were given on combined orthodontic and Implant therapy, the role of occlusal splints in treating joint and muscle problems and the biomechanics of dental implant tretament. A great time was had by all, many thanks to Kish and his team

Our principal dentist Dinesh will be attending a continuing education course in London on Tuesday focusing on the “Social Six” Orthodontic Treatment protocol. This treatment can move teeth quickly and gently, reducing time and increasing comfort in orthodontic treatment. Check out: http://www.social6braces.com/ for more information.
I am a dentist based in the North West and travelled to Birmingham specifically for my treatment to be carried out at St Pauls Square. I’m quite a nervous patient but Damien and Dominic put me at complete ease and I’m extremely grateful for the beautiful white fillings I left with!
Introducing the Inman Aligner
Until now, the alternatives to straighten front teeth involved either long and expensive orthodontic treatments or destructive and expensive restorative treatments such as veneers or crowns. Even ultrathin veneers involve heavy reduction of natural teeth when used to align crowding or protrusion.
But with the arrival of the Inman Aligner, all that has changed.
The Inman Aligner is a cost-effective removable orthodontic appliance that moves teeth in a fraction of the time of other systems. It aligns crowded or protruding anterior teeth with two opposing spring loaded aligner bars. This provides gentle but continuous pressure over a large range of movement. Surprisingly, this gentle pressure is the quickest way to move teeth but it also makes treatment very safe and kind to teeth.
People love the speed of treatment and it’s changing the face of dentistry as we know it. The average treatment time is only 4-16 weeks and now with concerns over the economy it’s a more justifiable expense.
Only certified Inman Aligner dentists can provide them. Dr Damien McLaughlin of St Pauls Square Dental Practice has achieved this certification and provides Inman Aligners, here in Birmingham.
Dr Damien McLaughlin; “The Inman Aligner is the greatest innovation in dentistry of recent years. It’s fast, affordable and kind to teeth. It really is the best way to straighten crowded front teeth.”
